LEVERTON PARISH COUNCIL

MINUTES of the Meeting held at The Church Hall, Main Road, Leverton on Monday, 18th September 2017.

Present:-   Councillors:  Mrs J Moore, Mr N White, Mrs J Self, Mr M Chevis, Cllr P Bedford, Boston Borough Council

1.0   OPEN FORUM

There were no members of the public present and no items for the open forum.

2.0   POLICE MATTERS

There were no items received.

3.0    APOLOGIES: 
Apologies received from Mr D Horwat, Cllr F Ransome, Boston Borough Council.

4.0    DECLARATION OF INTEREST

There were no declarations of interest.

5.0    MINUTES

The minutes of the Meeting held on 24th July 2017 were agreed as presented and signed by the Chairman as a true record of the meeting. 

6.0    Matters arising:

6.1    Application for Defibrillator 

The firefighters from Leverton Fire Station completed the Boston Dragon Boat Race on Sunday 13th August 2017 and Watch Manager Martin Bell confirmed that they had raised over £1800 towards the defibrillator and cabinet. He also confirmed that there were extension works planned for the fire station before the defibrillator can be sited and he would let the clerk know when this had been completed. Mrs Moore reported that Mrs Welbourne was still actively fundraising for a second defibrillator and for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.

6.2    Play Park

The Chairman confirmed that he had concerns regarding the quantity and quality of the bark chippings that have been delivered to the play park and had spoken to the supplier however he had not received a satisfactory response. The Chairman confirmed he had left the matter with Mr Gaylor to address however the Chairman also confirmed that he had approached another supplier who was willing to supply chippings free of charge and it was agreed to take some to fill in the deficit in the park sometime in the future.

6.3     Poor Condition of Parish Roads

It was agreed that roads in the area are still being reported as poor and the Chairman voiced his concerns at not having a dedicated contact to report issues to. Cllr Bedford suggested that it may be prudent for the Chairman to contact Cllr Paul Skinner, Lincolnshire County Council to obtain direction on getting solutions to these problems,

6.4     Leverton Toilet facilities.

Cllr Peter Bedford confirmed that the lease had been given to the prospective developer for signature however this had not been returned to Boston Borough Council. Mrs Moore and Mr White raised concerns about the area around the toilets not being of a very tidy appearance and it was agreed that Mr White would look into arranging for someone to clear away the bushes and debris.

6.5   Parish Councillor Vacancy.

The council welcomed Mr M Chevis, the newly co-opted Parish Councillor, to his first meeting

9.0     ITEMS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PARISH

Mr Chevis stated that he had been approached by parishioners asking if it was possible to have a bus shelter on the Boston bound side of the A52 carriageway at the bus stop. Mrs Moore stated that council had exhausted all avenues possible as this issue had been raised previously.

The date of the next meeting was agreed as Monday 23rd October 2017 at The Church Hall, Main Road, Leverton commencing at 7.00pm.
