MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF LEVERTON PARISH COUNCIL HELD IN LEVERTON CHURCH HALL ON

                                                             MONDAY 15 JUNE 2026

 

Present:               Cllr D Durrant – Chairman

Public Forum

There was one member of the public present to observe the meeting in the respect of the current clerk vacancy.

 

26/54 Apologies

Apologies were received from Cllr P Bedford and Cllr D Broughton.

 

26/55    To receive any declarations of interest in accordance with the requirements of the Localism Act 2011

Cllr Alan Woodward declared his interest in respect of item 6 - To receive an update regarding Lacey’s Pit

 

26/56  To receive and approve the notes of the Council meetings held on Monday 18 May 2026

It was RESOLVED that the notes of the meeting held 18 May 2026 be approved as a record of the meeting and be signed by the Chairman.

 

26/57    Reports from Lincolnshire County Council/Boston Borough Council

Cllr A Arundell stated that although there were no matters to report from Lincolnshire CC he confirmed that Lincolnshire County Council would be at the annual Lincolnshire Show.

 

26/58  Issues relating to the Playing Fields, Potholes and the Environment of the Parish

Playing Fields

Cllr Horwat confirmed that there were no issues relating to the playing field.

Potholes

The Chairman confirmed that he had seen the jet patching machine working on the outlying parish roads and thought that the repairs seemed to be of better quality than most of those done previously.

Environment

Cllr Horwat informed members of the Council that he wished to resign as representative for Leverton Leisure Centre effective immediately due to his recent health issues. Cllr Durrant would step into the role on a temporary basis as he had been liaising with Ms A Williams regarding some issues at the Leisure Centre.

Cllr Woodward reported that the trees at the end of Laceys Lane were in need of cutting, the clerk confirmed she would report it to LHP.

 

Cllr Woodward and Cllr Arundel left the meeting

 

26/59   To receive an update regarding Lacey’s Pit

The Chairman confirmed to members that he had recently visited Lacey’s Pit with the current tenant, Mr R Moore and had been accompanied by the clerk. He reported that the site was well maintained, was tranquil and a fitting tribute to the memory of Mrs J Moore and also suggesting that council members might visit the pit to have a look for themselves. Members discussed the future of the site and RESOLVED to revisit the subject in September/October to review the situation with the trees which border the A52.

 

Cllr Woodward returned to the meeting.

 

26/60 To receive an update regarding the Public Rights of Way

The clerk provided a map of the public footpaths with indication of those cut and those grazed. She also informed members of the Council that a certificate of public liability insurance was necessary before any member could consider undertaking any works on the footpaths. Council also discussed the route of the path being amended from around Colinwood on Outgate to around the edge of the adjacent field and if this possibility could be investigated. Cllr White provided a photograph of part of the rights of way which indicated that it had not been cut recently, the clerk confirmed she would request for this to be done.

It was RESOLVED to accept the payments as per the payment sheet 05/2026 details below:

There were no matters raised.

 

26/63    Date of the next Parish Council Meeting

Date of the next Meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Monday 20 July 2026. There being no further business to discuss, the Chairman thanked those in attendance and declared the meeting closed.
