MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF LEVERTON PARISH COUNCIL HELD IN LEVERTON VILLAGE HALL ON MONDAY 16 OCTOBER 2023

Public Forum

There were no members of the public present.

23/76   Apologies

Apologies were received from Cllr F Osborne, Cllr N Chandler, Cllr D Broughton and Cllr P Bedford.

23/77   To receive any declarations of interest in accordance with the requirements of the Localism Act 2011

There were no interests declared.

23/78  To receive and approve the notes of the Council meeting held on Monday 18 September 2023

It was RESOLVED that the notes of the meeting held 18 September 2023 be approved as a record of the meeting and be signed by the Chairman.

23/79   Reports from Lincolnshire County Council/Boston Borough Council

Cllr P Skinner gave a verbal report regarding Lincolnshire County Council business.

23/80    Issues relating to the Playing Fields, Potholes and the Environment of the Parish

Playing Fields

Cllr Horwat stated that the gates had now been installed, courtesy of the  landowners - Leverton Poors Land Trust.

Cllr Horwat suggested the materials from the wooden play equipment could be recycled and used as a gazebo over the  picnic table which was sited in the orchard. Members of the council RESOLVED to accept Cllr Horwat’s suggestion.

Cllr  Horwat confirmed that the container had been treated with the anti-climb paint and  the warning signage had been displayed.

The clerk stated that she would obtain quotes for alternative play equipment inspection companies to ensure the council were paying a competitive price for this service. 

Potholes

Members of the council agreed that there had been no notable repairs in the parish. Cllr P Skinner encouraged the use of FixMyStreet.

Environment 

Cllr Self-Shutts reminded Cllr Skinner about the overhanging hedge at Outgate which had been previously reported to him. 

The clerk stated she would contact Peter Bedford regarding the road surface at the  top of the bank at the Pumping Station as Cllr White not been able to speak to his contact at the  Environment Agency. 

Cllr N Chandler had asked if the Council could ask the gateway supplier which cleaning materials could be recommended as he was finding it difficult and time consuming to clean the gateways with the wet, muddy conditions. 

23/81  Refurbishment of the Church Hall

The clerk confirmed that she was still sourcing the correct type of paint for the hall and would purchase the amount required once she had found a suitable supplier. Cllr Self-Shutts suggested Witham Oil and Paints in Lincoln. The clerk also suggested postponing this agenda item until the Spring. Members of the Council RESOLVED to defer this agenda item until April.

23/83 Matters for discussion only or to be added to the next agenda.

The Chairman confirmed he would be happy to lay the Remembrance wreath at the service scheduled to take place on Sunday 12th November at the war memorial, Sheepgate.

Cllr White asked if the dyke adjacent to the A52 in the village was scheduled to be cut. The clerk confirmed she would contact Ann Blythe to arrange for it to be flailed along with the dyke on the lay-by.

23/84   Date and Time of the next Parish Council Meeting

The next Meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Monday 20 November 2023 beginning at 7.00pm. There being no further business to discuss, the Chairman thanked those in attendance and declared the meeting closed.
